The world has seen a sea change in the field of technology from huge room-sized computers to palm sized smart phones. Now it has further been advanced and has evolved into a credit card sized computer.
A California based start up has been working on a project which is on its mission to invent a small credit card sized system. The computer works on some networking processes like Bluetooth and WiFi.
The company Next Thing has also revealed that the tiny gadget will have a 1Ghz processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of on board storage. It costs only $9.
This tiny gadget runs on Linux operating system and connects to monitors and displays via a basic composite connector.
The company is also planning to make a version of the Chip into a handheld gadget called the Pocket Chip that will sell for about $49. Next Thing is seeking funding on Kickstarter where almost 13,000 people have already pledged more than $645,000 to the project, 'BBC News' reported. Next Thing wants $50,000 to finish it.
